Epson R1800 Printer For Art Transparencies

epson-r1800-printerR1800 Printer

For the past couple of years I have been using a Epson Stylus Photo R1800 Inkjet Printer

The Ink:

The ink supplied with the printer is great for picture printing but not for screen printing art.  It also will burn through a stock ink cartridge in no time.  I installed a bulk ink system from ScreenPrinters.Net.  The bulk ink is allot more economical and is formulated for the special transparency material you print on.

The R1800 has since been discontinued and replaced by the Epson Stylus Pro 3800 Printer The R3800 is a 17 inch wide format printer compared to 13 inches on the R1800.  I don’t see a need for a 17 inch wide printer for screen printing. (unless printing XXXL shirts 🙂 ).  Also I don’t see the bulk ink system available for it yet.

If you want a great printer I would pick up a new R1800 or try to find a used one, you won’t be sorry.

Digital printing

And so this is another “development” in the field of printing technology. Another gadget to have. Printing has just gotten better and better through the years, hasn’t it? Thank heavens somebody discovered digital printing, making printing much more accessible to many and cheaper.

I have an Epson 1400 and it retails for $200 to $300 depending on where you get it. It works very well for me and can be converted to all black for use with AccuRIP. Cool stuff!

Hello SP Guy. Question about the water filter. You used PVC to make a screen frame, did you just make it into a square, put screen around it, and slide it down the bucket? What type of screen do you use? Do you know of anyone else that made a water filter? Do you know how to make a reclaimer/water filter, and can we use Activated Carbon to clean out anymore impurities?
